In the past, camera systems were primarily used for commercial applications and upscale residences. However, with the introduction of the doorbell camera in the 2000’s and advances in technology that dropped the cost of camera systems, the vast majority of homeowners now have at least one camera installed.
The coverage, customer interface, recording option, and functionality, are the main factors to consider when installing a home camera system.
There are two main options for residential camera systems:
Camera system that integerates with the Alarm.com platform (app).
Cameras are always on and provide a live feed. However, the cameras only record when certain recording rules are met (i.e., motion).

Cameras are always recording. Images/videos are recorded locally on a NVR/DVR.
